About ScOAR
ScOAR stands for Scriptural Orientation, Application & Reflection. It is a free AI-powered biblical guidance tool for anyone who wants to find relevant Scripture for their real-life situation.
You simply type what you are going through in your own words — a struggle, a question, a decision, a moment of doubt or grief — and ScOAR responds with 3 to 5 curated Bible verses, each with a clear explanation and one practical action step you can take today.
No Bible knowledge required. No account required to get started. Always free.
ScOAR is for anyone seeking biblical guidance — new believers who don't know where to start, lifelong Christians facing a difficult season, and anyone curious about what Scripture says about their situation.
It is particularly well-suited for:
- Teenagers and young adults navigating real-life challenges
- People who are new to the faith or unfamiliar with the Bible
- Anyone who wants fast, private, and practical Scripture-based guidance
- Youth pastors and church leaders looking for a trusted resource to recommend
ScOAR is designed for users aged 13 and older.
Yes — completely free, always. There is no subscription, no paywall, no premium tier, and no advertising. Every feature in ScOAR is available to every user at no cost.
ScOAR is a ministry tool. We believe putting a price on access to biblical guidance contradicts the mission. ScOAR is sustained through voluntary donations and sponsorships from people who want to support the work.
ScOAR is an acronym:
- Sc — Scriptural: rooted in God's Word
- O — Orientation: helping you find direction through Scripture
- A — Application: practical steps you can take today
- R — Reflection: sitting with Scripture and letting it speak to your situation
The name is also inspired by Isaiah 40:31 — "those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles."
How It Works
Using ScOAR is simple:
- Open the app at app.scoarapp.com — no download required
- Select your language and preferred Bible translation (optional)
- Type your situation, question, or struggle in plain language — at least 10 characters
- Tap "Get Biblical Guidance"
- Receive 3 to 5 curated Bible verses, each with an explanation and a practical action step
You can save verses to your Favorites, copy them to clipboard, or share them with others directly from the results.
ScOAR uses Anthropic's Claude AI — one of the most capable and carefully designed AI systems available. When you submit your situation, Claude analyzes the context and selects the most relevant Scripture passages from its deep knowledge of the Bible.
Each response includes:
- A brief summary of the guidance
- 3 to 5 Bible verses (3 for simpler questions, up to 5 for complex situations)
- An explanation of why each verse applies to your situation
- One specific, practical action step for today
- A "Moving Forward" reflection with next steps
ScOAR currently uses public domain Bible translations only. This ensures there are no licensing complications and the app remains fully free to use.
- English: WEB (World English Bible, default), ASV (American Standard Version), KJV (King James Version)
- Spanish: RVR1960 (Reina-Valera 1960)
- French: LSG (Louis Segond)
- Portuguese: ARC (Almeida Revista e Corrigida)
- Chinese: CUV (Chinese Union Version)
- Korean: KRV (Korean Revised Version)
We are actively pursuing licensing for modern translations (ESV, NIV, NLT, and others) and plan to add them in a future update.
ScOAR currently supports 6 languages:
- English
- Español (Spanish)
- Français (French)
- Português (Portuguese)
- 中文 (Chinese)
- 한국어 (Korean)
When you select a language, the AI response — including the summary, verse explanations, application steps, and Moving Forward reflection — is delivered in that language. Additional languages are planned for future updates.
ScOAR draws from broadly evangelical Christian tradition and aims to provide guidance that is grounded in Scripture and consistent with orthodox Christian teaching.
However, because ScOAR uses AI, responses may occasionally contain errors in interpretation or miss nuances that a trained pastor or theologian would catch. We are actively working with pastoral advisors to review and refine the system.
Always verify verses and interpretations with your own Bible. ScOAR is designed to help you find Scripture — not to replace the discernment of your church community or the guidance of a pastor.
Account & Privacy
No — an account is completely optional. You can use ScOAR's core features (search, history, favorites) without creating an account or providing any personal information.
Without an account, your history and saved verses are stored privately on your device only — we never see them.
Creating an account unlocks:
- Private Vault — save sensitive queries to secure cloud storage, accessible only to you
- Cross-device access — sign in on any device and access your vault
- Password recovery — reset your password via email if needed
Tap the My ScOAR button in the app header and select Register. You will need:
- A username
- A valid email address
- A password (at least 6 characters)
Your account is secured by Supabase, a trusted cloud authentication provider. Your password is never stored in plain text. You can reset your password at any time via the login screen.
The Private Vault is a secure cloud storage feature for logged-in users. It allows you to "lock" a query and its results from your local history to your personal vault stored securely in the cloud.
Private Vault entries are:
- Encrypted and stored on secure servers
- Accessible only to you — no one else can see them, not even us
- Removed from your device's local storage once locked
- Available on any device when you sign in
This is especially useful for queries about sensitive personal situations that you want to keep private and accessible across devices.
Your privacy is a core value of ScOAR, not an afterthought.
Guest users: Your queries, history, and favorites are stored only on your device in local browser storage. We never see them. They are never sent to our servers.
Logged-in users: Your account information (email, username) is stored securely with Supabase. Your Private Vault entries are stored in a database with Row Level Security — only your account can access your entries. We do not read your private entries.
We will never sell your data, show you ads, or use your queries for any purpose other than delivering your guidance results.
Read our full Privacy Policy for complete details.
Guest data: You can clear all your local history and favorites at any time by clearing your browser's local storage. On most browsers: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cached images and files / Site data.
Account data: You can delete individual Private Vault entries within the app at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at [email protected] and we will process your request within 30 days.
You can also request a copy of all data we hold about you by emailing [email protected].
On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?" and enter your email address. We will send you a password reset link. Follow the link to set a new password.
If you don't receive the email within a few minutes, check your spam folder. If you still have trouble, contact us at [email protected].
Features & Usage
Yes. Tap the heart icon on any verse to save it to your Favorites. Your favorites are stored on your device and can be accessed any time from the Favorites button in the app header.
You can search and filter your favorites, and delete individual entries when you no longer need them. A confirmation dialog will always appear before any deletion so nothing is removed accidentally.
ScOAR automatically saves your last 20 queries in your history. Each history item stores the complete results — so tapping a previous query reloads the full response instantly, without making a new AI request.
You can search and filter your history, reload any past result, or delete individual entries. History is stored on your device only (unless you lock an entry to your Private Vault).
Yes. Tap the share icon on any verse to share it via your phone's native share sheet — this lets you send it through any app on your device (Messages, WhatsApp, email, and more).
You can also tap the copy icon to copy the verse text, reference, explanation, and application to your clipboard.
When you first open ScOAR, a brief disclaimer screen appears with important reminders:
- ScOAR uses AI and content may contain errors — always verify with your own Bible
- For serious issues, speak with a pastor, counselor, or trusted adult
- ScOAR is designed for anyone seeking biblical wisdom
Tap "I Understand, Continue" to proceed to the app. This screen is shown to ensure every user understands the nature and limitations of AI-generated content before receiving guidance.
Technical & Platform
ScOAR is currently available as a web app (PWA) at app.scoarapp.com. It works on any modern browser — no download required.
You can also install it to your home screen for an app-like experience:
- iPhone (Safari): Tap the Share button → "Add to Home Screen"
- Android (Chrome): Tap the menu (3 dots) → "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App"
iOS App Store and Android Google Play versions are coming soon. Once available, links will appear on our Get Started page.
Partially. ScOAR requires an internet connection to generate new AI responses — the AI runs in the cloud and cannot work offline.
However, your saved history is stored on your device, so you can reload and read any previously generated responses without a connection. Your Favorites are also accessible offline.
Yes. ScOAR is available globally at app.scoarapp.com. There are no geographic restrictions.
If you have trouble accessing the app via the custom domain, try the direct link: scoar-weld.vercel.app. This bypasses DNS and always works globally.
ScOAR supports 6 languages (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean) with more planned in future updates.
The copy-to-clipboard feature requires a secure connection (HTTPS). If you are accessing ScOAR on a standard web connection (HTTP) or a local network, copying may not work — this is a browser security requirement, not a bug.
The copy feature works correctly on app.scoarapp.com which uses HTTPS.
Safety & Crisis Support
ScOAR is not a crisis service and cannot replace professional help. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, please reach out to trained professionals:
- Emergency services: Call 911 (US) or your local emergency number
- 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 (US)
- Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741 (US)
ScOAR can offer Scripture and reflection, but a real person — a pastor, counselor, or trusted adult — is always the right choice for serious personal situations.
ScOAR is designed for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete the account promptly.
Teens aged 13–17 are welcome to use ScOAR. We encourage parents and guardians to stay involved in how their teenagers engage with digital tools, including ScOAR.
